This project is a 95,000 SF addition to an existing medical office building for Sacred Heart Heath System. The new structure will be four stories in height, and consist of new physicians’ offices/clinical space joined to the existing structure by a dramatic center core/lobby at the juncture of the existing and new buildings. The first floor will house radiation oncology services, with the second floor providing space for medical oncology space. The third and fourth floors will provide space for physicians’ offices. The structure will also include administrative and patient counseling spaces. The project construction cost is $19,700,000.

This 170,000 SF, six-story office building & conference center for Johnson Development Corporation was part of Sacred Heart Hospital’s campus expansion. The conference center includes a 450-seat multi-use flat floor auditorium, a 36-seat raised tier floor lecture hall, a 100-seat dividable conference room, kitchen, lobby and ancillary spaces. The office building includes facilities for Nemours Children’s Clinic, physician offices, a gift shop, physical and occupational therapy departments and admissions. Project cost was $15,000,000.
This Florida Department of Health children’s clinic serves the congenital and chronically ill children of the Panhandle area. Designed from a child’s point of view, the building creates a fun and interesting environment for medical treatment while supporting the efficient functioning of staff and doctors. The building also contains other healthcare-related services provided by the Florida Department of Health, such as the Center for Autism, the Brain & Spinal Cord Institute, and the Emerald Coast Pediatric Primary Care.

This 205,000 SF project included a full modernization of Sacred Heart Health System’s trauma, surgical, cardiovascular, and sterile processing departments. Patient flow was analyzed and optimized for the highest level of patient care with special emphasis on the critical care areas.
The Emergency Room is twice as large as the existing ER. It includes a “fast-track” area to speed care of patients with conditions that are not true emergencies, and a separate pediatrics area. There are fourteen new operating rooms which allow physicians/surgeons to perform procedures on various patients at one time. It includes a Stat Lab, elevators on OR floor with direct access to the roof helopad, and isolated recovery rooms for pediatric patients and their family. The Heart Institute serves as a regional center for Northwest Florida and South Alabama area. It includes a Chest Pain Center to treat patients with immediate care, facilities for outpatient catheterization procedures, facilities with the latest technology for minimally invasive heart surgery, and facilities that will house a national research institute.
Caldwell Associates associated with the national firm of HLM Design on the design of this project. Caldwell Associates handled construction documents and contract administration. Project cost was $19,000,000.
This four-story, 120,000 SF office building acts as the outpatient entrance to the hospital campus. The project required connection to the Brent Avenue Parking Garage, patient access control, patient flow, and maintainability due to the high volume of visitors (over 100,000 annually).
This 55,300 SF office building/ambulatory center for Johnson Development Corporation includes a 17,670 SF Diagnostics facility, the Ann Baroco Center, a 10,750 SF facility dedicated to women’s cancer care, and office space for informal medicine and other medical specialty doctors.
The project consisted of a two-phased approach for Sacred Heart Health System. Phase I was a 30,000 SF medical office building that would house internal medicine and family care physicians. Phase II introduced an Ambulatory Care Center which provided diagnostic services, outpatient surgery, women’s services, and an urgent care clinic. This site was planned to have the potential of a 50-bed hospital with outbuildings providing the flexibility to expand outpatient services.
This project was a replacement hospital encompassing 12 labor and delivery rooms, 38 postpartum rooms, 3 operating suites, a Level II and III neonatal nursery, 50 pediatric/critical rooms, a new cafeteria/kitchen, a laundry, and a materials management area.

Operated by Sacred Heart Health System, Miracle Camp consists of 40 acres located at 9840 Beulah Road in Beulah, Florida. It includes 12,382 SF (9 Buildings + 5 Gazebos) with a total of 50 parking spaces. The Miracle Camp is utilized for terminally ill children, and the facilities include a caretaker’s cottage, main office, nurses’ station, dormitories, activities building, chapel, dining hall, pool/cabana, and maintenance building.
Caldwell Associates and Speegle Construction Company associated on this design-build project for the Army Corps of Engineers for construction of a major addition to and renovation of portions of an existing Medical/Dental Clinic at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Okaloosa County.
The project is an outpatient facility and is being constructed in three phases to minimize disruption to the facility operations, which will be ongoing during the construction process. The addition consists of a 2-story structure with 33,990 SF; 17,040 SF of the existing 38,500 SF existing structure will be renovated. The project also includes sitework to support the expanded facility. Estimated construction cost is $6,800,000.
