Vision
Put simply, our vision is to design and build your vision. We are committed to building close, long-term relationships with our clients and developing unsurpassed architecture and interior designs that serve both our clients and the community at large.
We believe the best designs arise out of the team’s understanding of and sensitivity to the client’s special needs. Each project presents new opportunities and challenges, and we strive to create solutions that both enhance its distinct features and meet its unique demands.
We do not have predetermined, stock designs. We listen to our clients, and we develop projects that meet their aesthetic and functional needs. Creating unparalleled and timeless architectural and interior designs is our passion and is exemplified by work.
Our approach, as evidenced by a long list of successful projects, repeat clientele and significant growth, is one of strong project management combined with teamwork.
Caldwell Associates works closely with our clients throughout all stages of the process, integrating our experience and expertise with the project’s requirements. Every commission is organized on a team basis, under the guidance of the principal and aided by consultants specially selected to compliment each project. Our team approach maximizes the complementary strengths of all disciplines and adheres to four key principles:
- Focused Communication between Client and Architect/Engineer
- Tight Project Control Throughout All Phases
- Commitment to Service
- Comprehensive Documentation
Communication
We believe the client is a key member of the team, an active participant in the project from inception through the finishing touches. Only by paying close attention to our clients can we create designs that truly represent the image and character they wish to convey.
Control
Effective project control requires an understanding of all the factors that shape a given enterprise and an ability to balance them so that scheduling, operational and financial objectives are met.
Service
Our team provides clientele with an integrated approach to development, design, construction and management. From the first consultation to the finishing touches, we offer responsive, timely service for ultimate convenience.
Documentation
We develop a mutually acceptable, standardized format for agendas and reports, which are disseminated in written form to all team members. By meticulously tracking and communicating decisions, we maintain control throughout the duration of the job
Sustainable architecture seeks to minimize the negative environmental impact of structures and interiors by optimizing energy efficiency and the use of renewable materials. Environmentally-conscious or “green” designers use a wide variety of techniques to lower a project’s energy use and environmental “footprint” as much as possible.
Nothing is more important to sustainable architecture than reducing the energy demands of a building. Two things are essential to achieving this goal: installing an efficient heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, and ensuring that the building is well insulated.
Here in Florida, one of the most energy-intensive elements of any project is cooling. Creating shade with awnings and shutters, incorporating insulating construction materials, and locating buildings to take advantage of shade trees and natural breezes are all ways to lower artificial cooling demands.
Architects can also increase a building’s ability to recapture or generate energy. Utilizing technologies such as photovoltaic solar panels, rooftop wind turbines, recycled denim insulation, and wastewater reclamation systems can all result in low-energy, more eco-friendly architectural and interior designs.
Our mission is to serve the long-term needs of both clients and community by creating high-quality, low-impact projects that utilize efficient and alternative energy systems, recycled and sustainable materials, and progressive waste management systems. To do this, we employ a multifaceted approach, drawing on ideas from architects, engineers, interior designers and planners to identify and implement sustainable components where appropriate. Our efforts have resulted in numerous projects that demonstrate the potential of sustainable design to improve the health of both humans and the environment.
Architecture and community are intrinsically linked because one shapes the other. Caldwell Associates has a proud tradition of creating structures and environments that complement the beauty and allure of the Emerald Coast. In the firm’s 20 years in business, we have helped shape the communities we serve through numerous and varied projects, including Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, a Florida welcome center, military housing and recreation facilities for the U.S. Navy, banks, churches, libraries and so much more.
In our desire to be a good corporate citizen, we encourage our employees to take an active role in our community, providing professional and civic leadership and volunteerism. We believe that the values and expertise they learn at work will benefit the community and that the lessons they learn in public service will, in turn, inform and enhance their work.
Employees of Caldwell Associates donate their time, talent and money to numerous worthy causes, such as Habitat for Humanity, Rebuild Northwest Florida, Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Way and more. The firm’s principal, Miller Caldwell Jr., has a long and wide-ranging history of civic leadership and public service:
